The shorter 100-hour courses provide teachers with the core knowledge needed to excel in the ESL/EFL classroom, covering a wide array of topics, including an overview of the teacher-student dynamic, an introduction to TESOL theories and methodologies, a review of basic grammar, and the nuts and bolts of lesson planning. The 120-hour courses explore in greater depth many core topics, like grammar and phonology, but also offer broader coverage of productive and receptive language skills, i.e. speaking, writing, listening and speaking.

Both the 100- and 120-hour courses can be taken in a self-paced or an instructor-led format. The self-paced courses offer teachers much greater flexibility, can usually be completed in a shorter period of time, and are more economical. The instructor-led courses provide a much more dynamic and interactive learning environment in which our world-class instructors offer guidance as teachers work through the modules, and also give timely feedback on writing assignments.

  100-hour TEFL Certification Program

 100-hour TESOL Certification Program

General description: This teacher-training course provides new and inexperienced ESL teachers with the foundational training necessary to become productive and successful ESL teaching professionals. At its core, this 100-hour course prepares teachers in the theory and practice of teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). The first third of the course examines leading theories and methods in TESOL, highlighting recent trends and academic debates, and it also explores the role of teachers and students in foreign language learning. Trainees will take a one-hour foreign language lesson with the purpose of better understanding the student's perspective.

The balance of the course emphasizes the practice of teaching English. Through interesting lessons and assignments, trainees will become familiar and comfortable with the nuts and bolts of being an English teacher.
